How to Target candidates within Social Networks

I had said that social networking could go far to add both value and change to the traditional way recruiters source candidates. As promised, here is a small tutorial (for some of you not familiar) about how exactly to use Internet and networking sites to our advantage. One important aspect of social media optimization is finding individuals that suit your requirements. Always remember–with the correct search query in Google, it is easy to find candidates you need.

Example: “site:facebook.com/people golf”

In above query, with Facebook.com as an example, we will get list of users on Facebook who have stated interest in golf

Below are example searches for other networks:

Linkedin

site:linkedin.com inurl:in “social media expert”

Bebo

site:.bebo.com inurl:profile inurl:bebo “social media expert”

Facebook

site:facebook.com/people “led zeppelin”

Twitter

site:twitter.com -inurl:statuses -inurl:status “social media expert”

MySpace

site:profile.myspace.com inurl:myspace inurl:fuseaction “social media expert”

Happy candidate hunting!
