It seems that temporary staffing is the order of the day. Many companies these days are hiring temporary staffs. This trend is very popular in the United States. Even some of the Asian powerhouses have also found this trend to be very useful. India is one such country that is hiring more and more temporary employees.

In the US the idea of hiring temps or temporary staffs are on the rise since the year 1990. The trend took a dip in 2002 but it has again gained some impetus. It reached to the 3 million mark in 2007. That year in the US alone about 2.96 million people got recruited as temporary staffs. As recession stepped in 2008 it took another dip but still gave employment to 2.66 million people. These figures are revealed by a research conducted by the American Staffing Association.

Thanks to these temporary staffs the companies this country have garnered a sales amount of about $ 70.70 billion in 2008. In 2007 this number was recorded to be $ 73.50 billion. This was the highest ever sales recorded so far that has involved temps rather than permanents.

If we look at the past then we will see that compared to 2004 the temporary staffing recruitment process in America saw a rise of about 11.1 percent compared to that achieved in the year previous to that.

Now if we take a look at India then we will find an increase in companies who are favoring the recruitment of temps. That is why most experts believe that there will come a time when this country will hire 2.5 to 3 percent of its staffs on a temporary basis.

Thanks to this kind of hiring in both the countries it has become easier to fill up the blank place that is left by people who have resigned from the company. By hiring thee people companies can achieve some short time goals.

An employee, on the other hand, can benefit from this system by gaining more flexibility in his work. Thus it seems that this profession has found out its mean to survive high demand.
